US Tax Preparer

Job Title: ​US Tax Preparer (Remote)

About the Client:​ Our client is a modern U.S.-based accounting firm that provides tax, attestation, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, small businesses, and investment entities. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Virtual Assistant with U.S. tax and bookkeeping experience to join their remote team.

Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our growing team​. This is a fully remote position reporting directly to a Tax Senior based in our New York office.​ This role is ideal for someone with U.S. public accounting experience who enjoys taking ownership of client​ communication, managing tax return preparation from start to finish, and being a dependable extension of a​ collaborative tax team year-round — not just during busy season.​ The Tax Preparer will manage the tax process from document collection through draft completion, coordinate​ directly with clients, and ensure returns are complete and ready for review.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare federal and state tax returns for:

• Individuals (Form 1040)

• C-Corporations (Form 1120)

• S-Corporations (Form 1120S​)

• Partnerships (Form 1065)

• Work with a variety of operating businesses across different industries

• Handle entities that may include real estate holdings and depreciation schedules, but are not​ predominantly real estate-focused

• Manage the tax return process from initial document request through draft completion

• Request, collect, and organize client documentation needed to fully prepare returns

• Communicate directly with clients to clarify open items and resolve issues

• Set up and coordinate client calls as needed

• Ensure returns are complete, organized, and ready for Tax Senior review

• Track open items and follow up proactively with clients

• Assist with extensions, projections, and year-round tax matters as neede

• Support the team throughout the year, not just during tax season
