In 1921, Ernest Bader started Scott Bader in Finsbury Square, London, becoming the sole agent for a Swiss manufacturer of Celluloid. His pioneering spirit quickly became evident when he developed the first low viscosity nitrocellulose in England, reducing car painting time from days to hours while delivering a harder, glossier finish. This innovation fueled rapid growth, leading to the company's incorporation as Scott Bader & Co Ltd in 1923.

A transformative moment came in 1951 when the Bader family made an extraordinary decision - gifting their shares to the workforce, making Scott Bader one of the first employee-owned companies in the United Kingdom. This pioneering ownership model, now known as the Scott Bader Commonwealth, set the foundation for a unique business philosophy centered on fairness, inclusion, and shared prosperity.

Today, Scott Bader is a global manufacturer of advanced composites, structural adhesives, and functional polymers. With over 100 years of chemical manufacturing excellence, the company serves more than 90 countries across six continents, employing over 700 colleagues at 18 locations worldwide.
