Save the Children Federation, Inc., commonly known as Save the Children USA, is a leading American non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in the United States and around the world. Founded in 1932, its initial mission was to assist children impacted by the Great Depression in the Appalachian Mountains. This initiative was inspired by the earlier work of Eglantyne Jebb and Dorothy Buxton, who established the Save the Children Fund in Great Britain in 1919 to provide aid to children suffering after World War I. Today, Save the Children USA is part of the larger Save the Children International alliance, a global movement operating in over 100 countries.

The organization's core mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. This is pursued through comprehensive programs focusing on health and nutrition, education, child protection, and emergency response. In the United States, Save the Children works in some of the most underserved rural communities, implementing programs aimed at early childhood education, literacy, and providing safe environments for children. Internationally, the organization is often among the first to respond to humanitarian crises, providing essential aid such as food, medical care, and shelter to children and families affected by conflict, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Save the Children emphasizes sustainable solutions and works collaboratively with local communities, governments, and partner organizations to create lasting change. The organization is recognized for its commitment to financial efficiency, with a significant portion of donations going directly to programs and services. It consistently receives high ratings from charity evaluators for its transparency and effectiveness.
