About role
We are seeking a dedicated Senior SQL Database Engineer to become an integral part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, deployment, and maintenance of our SQL databases, ensuring their comprehensive performance and security across various platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
• Perform routine database administration tasks, including upgrades, backups, and recovery processes.
• Optimize and tune database systems for enhanced performance.
• Implement and configure robust database security measures.
• Collaborate with development teams to design effective schema and manage the development of stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Lead and participate in projects that require database solutions, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.

Requirements

• Agile Methodology: Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• SQL Expertise: Advanced SQL programming and optimization, experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, temporal tables, and versioned data handling.
• Azure SQL Database: Proficiency in development, deployment, and maintenance.
• Data Integration: Expertise in ETL processes and tools (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory), and integration between heterogeneous systems (on-prem/cloud).
• Database Design & Architecture: Strong understanding of dimensional modeling fundamentals and data warehousing concepts and implementation.
• Best Practices in SQL Development: Emphasize code modularity, performance tuning, indexing strategies, error handling, and transaction management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Well-organized in documentation and knowledge sharing.

Nice to have

• Power BI: Experience with ETL (Dataflows), data modeling, DAX, and report/dashboard creation, and integration with Azure SQL and other sources.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments (Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning.
• NoSQL Experience: Familiarity with databases like Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or similar.
• Security & Compliance: Awareness of data encryption, access control, GDPR/data privacy requirements.
• Performance Monitoring: Proficiency in using tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Query Store.
