The Red Hat Global Support Services team is seeking a Software Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Australia, in our team of Middleware Engineers supporting the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite. In this role, you will deliver an exceptional support experience to both global and regional customers by providing technical support. This role requires communication skills in Mandarinto effectively support our customer base in the APAC region. We are also looking for someone who embraces AI-driven tools and technologies, using them to improve troubleshooting efficiency, enhance customer experience, and drive continuous improvement in support practices.
You will be a technical expert, helping customers troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues. You will work closely with junior / senior engineers and developers to fix & improve code and provide highly technical solutions to support requests. Additionally, you will write patches, provide JBoss updates and contribute ideas through participation in an open and collaborative team environment. What you will do
As a senior software maintenance engineer, provide a high, detailed level of technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our JBoss products
Work alongside inhouse developers, fix & improve code, provide highly technical solutions and contribute to the JBoss & open source software communities
Act as the technical point person for a technology of your choosing within the JBoss Product Suite
Develop patches & feature requests to provide upstream to the community & downstream to customers
Use available tools to investigate and fix technical issues; resolve complex customer problems.
Record customer interactions to include investigation, troubleshooting, and the resolution of issues
Share your knowledge gained from solving issues by contributing to the global Red Hat knowledge management system.
Maintain dedication to providing the best experience for Red Hat customers
Assist in the development of comprehensive and reusable self-service solutions for future incidents
What you will bring
4+ years of professional JBoss EAP or JEE platform experience. A solid understanding of Java Programming API's & popular Java frameworks is preferred.
Solid knowledge of JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite, JVM. Advise customers on JEE architectural design decisions and help them understand how to best use Red Hat products in their enterprise solutions.
Deep experience with one or several JEE/App Server technologies such as JMS, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, Struts, Tomcat or Datasources, Version Control, Build Tool, Openshift, Docker
Experience with application server technologies such as JBoss/WebSphere/WebLogic, along with databases and SQL experience
Good understanding of Core Java concepts and Jakarta JEE design patterns
Professional development experience in the Jakarta JEE platform.
Must have hands-on experience with application server technologies – Red Hat JBoss EAP/Wildfly/WebSphere/WebLogic
Must have strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem-solving and investigation
An ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologies
Very clear and effective English and Mandarin communication skills
Adopt, integrate, and leverage AI-driven tools and technologies: Explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies relevant to software development, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling.
Knowledge of Linux/ UNIX operating systems.
Flexible to work on weekends when needed.
Nice to have
Development experience in frameworks like Hibernate/JPA and Spring
Understanding of OpenShift
Development experience in Web Services (REST/SOAP)
Good understanding of JTA Transactions
Hands-on experience with Git and Maven
