The high level:

The National Community Engagement Operations Manager (NCEOM) is a pivotal role, driving the efficiency and effectiveness of Reading Partners' volunteer engagement strategy nationwide. Reporting to the Vice President of Regional Operations, with strong collaboration with the National Community Engagement Directors, this position focuses on the operational backbone of volunteer recruitment and retention. You will be responsible for designing and managing critical data infrastructure, optimizing Salesforce and Google Suite usage, and developing resources and training to empower regional teams.

This role demands a strong operational leader who can streamline processes, manage complex projects, and serve as a key liaison across departments (IT, Program, etc.). You will leverage your expertise in data management and systems to ensure regional teams have the tools and knowledge necessary to achieve ambitious volunteer goals. Your strategic approach, coupled with your exceptional project management and relationship-building skills, will be instrumental in maximizing volunteer impact and supporting Reading Partners' mission. This position is remote but requires candidates to reside within one of Reading Partners’ operating locations: Baltimore, MD, Charleston, SC, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, North Texas (Dallas and Fort Worth), San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Twin Cities, MN, Tulsa, OK, Denver, CO, and Washington, D.C

What you’ll do:

Support the National Community Engagement department through project and operations management to ensure that all regional teams have the resources needed to implement Community Engagement (CE) systems and expectations efficiently and with a high level of fidelity.

  • Drive operational excellence by managing and optimizing cross-platform systems, facilitating core regional processes, and offering critical support for both regional and national initiatives.
  • Support creation and ongoing management of integrated CE systems across multiple platforms (Salesforce, Google Suite, etc.).
  • Contribute to development and execution of org-wide CE processes and operations, including annual Regional Impact Goals, volunteer scheduling, processing background checks, and other ad-hoc regional support.
  • Support regions with concrete recruitment help, including organizing recruitment campaigns, delivering Tutor Orientations, processing background checks, organizing allotment of volunteers from partnerships, etc.
  • As needed, lead or contribute to National CE team efforts to provide regional resources, tools, and accountability measures in service of reaching Regional Impact Goals and other organizational priorities (when necessary, flex this operational and systems support to include Powered by Reading Partners initiatives with a volunteer component).
    • Maintain and update the Library for regional implementation and partnership support.
    • Support with annual creation of tutor dashboards in Salesforce (Community Engagement goals, operational, pipeline, and auditing dashboards).
    • Create templates, tracking systems, knowledge management guides, and CE resources

Act as a National CE representative and consultant in cross-departmental work to enhance systems needed to operationalize the CE and Program initiatives for national and regional teams.

  • Lead or support regional (Engine 1 focused) projects in service of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention outcomes
  • Provide ad-hoc support for Powered by Reading Partners (possible strategy, training, or limited execution)
  • Liaise with leaders in IT, Program, and Data Strategy Evaluation in decision-making related to daily operations across various systems.
  • Serve as the National CE representative as a working group member (or lead) on projects of a cross-functional nature impacting org-wide priorities

Manage National CE department data collection/analysis needs with a focus on collaborating with key national departments to maximize Salesforce and Google Suite efficacy and usage.

  • On behalf of the National CE team, helps to drive decisions in this space to decide the needs and workflows of the systems needed to operationalize the CE/Program systems at a national and regional level.
  • Provides training to national and regional program staff as part of the change management needed from decisions as well as ongoing professional development of those at the director, manager, and coordinator levels across the organization.
  • Key voice providing input for the National CE team concerning Salesforce.
  • Develop and manage Salesforce resources, including reports, dashboards, training materials, and documentation, for National and regional CE teams.
  • Ensure tracking for all tutors in Salesforce, including providing ongoing support for regional staff (executed with a lens of continuous improvement in terms of how we manage these systems).
  • Collaborate with the Salesforce team to implement Salesforce changes for national and regional program teams, including making configuration changes in the setup menu, conducting quality assurance testing, creating user guides and training, and managing communications to impacted stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the use of Salesforce for national and regional teams, lead or contribute to the conversations that advocate and advance these changes, and translate those needs into user stories for the Salesforce team.
  • Support the design and facilitation of annual professional development for regional teams focused on optimizing features and functions in Salesforce and Google.
  • In collaboration with the Salesforce team and program staff, design and maintain key Salesforce dashboards (impact goals, tutor pipeline, audit dashboards, etc.) that track data for the thousands of tutors volunteering for RP annually and end-of-year tutor survey data.
  • Conduct end-of-year tutor point-of-entry analysis.
  • Support informed decisions that will enhance or change the Salesforce platform through a thoughtful input process.

Implement and manage internal knowledge bases and information systems for CE operations at the national level.

  • Lead an annual process that considers the needs of users at the national and regional level, incorporating user feedback and experiences. Execute updates to internal communication systems, platforms, and tools related to tutor recruitment and retention (e.g. Salesforce, Google docs, and the Library).
  • Support development, sharing, and/or revision of all operational materials for CE teams across the network promptly and ensure other regional needs are met (e.g., ad hoc data requests).
  • Work closely with members of the National CE team to maintain a platform for all internal CE training resources.
  • Manage the internal scheduling system and resources for regional team use through the pilot phase to full-scale implementation. Lead the revision process in partnership with the national Program/IT teams and bring the CE perspective and voice for decisions to be made around the pilot.

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and can work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues managing projects and decisions laterally and vertically when needed

  • This is a full-time, exempt, and salaried position. The pay range for this position is $$71,353 - $$83,945 per year and is contingent on geographic location. After applying, candidates who move forward in the hiring process are provided with the salary for their geographical location.
