Mainframe Architect - Legacy Modernization

About this Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert technical support for COBOL85, JCL, Assembler, RDB, NDB, TreeDB, Symfoware, and other related technologies for mainframe to open environment migration projects.

Specifically, this will include the following tasks:

  • Comprehensive evaluation of the current mainframe environment, including COBOL85 and JCL
  • Develop procedures for migrating mainframe applications to an open environment.
  • Provide technical support to the development team by identifying and addressing technical issues and providing solutions.
  • Establish standards for TOBE system performance, security, usability, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for projects, such as architectural design documents.

Who should apply?

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of mainframe environment including COBOL85, JCL, Assembler, RDB, NDB, TreeDB, Symfoware and other related technologies
  • Experience migrating from mainframe to open environments
  • Information analysis, problem solving and communication skills

Welcome Skills:

  • Experience migrating from mainframe to open platforms through rewrite, rehosting, rebuild, etc.
  • Experience in global projects and working with foreign companies and people
  • Experience (or interest) in offshore development
  • Technical knowledge of mainframe environment such as COBOL85, PL/I, RPG, JCL, Assembler, RDB, NDB, etc. of IBM, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Unisys, etc.
  • Experience in program development, operation and maintenance in one of the mainframe environments such as IBM, Fujitsu, NEC, Hitachi, Unisys, etc.
