In 1987, Pine Productions moved their focus to the healthcare furniture market, having identified a demand for strong, safe and durable healthcare furniture which avoided the ‘institutional’ appearance, common at that time. With a new direction, a new name was required and we became simply ‘Pineapple’.
Pineapple, now a global company with headquarters in Kent (UK), have offices in France, Germany and the USA, still runs by its original ethos.
JOB TITLE: Prototype Technician - Temporary
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
LOCATION: Remote
HOURS: 7am – 4.30pm
We are looking for an individual with good wood-working and joinery, and ideally upholstery skills who also has an interest in design. You will be required to help create prototypes of our furniture on a ad hoc basis. You will be an experienced carpenter with access to a workshop and tools who can assist our design team during busy periods of development. For this position you can be based remotely across the UK.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working closely with our in-house Designers & Design Engineers, create a wide range of full-scale furniture prototypes in wood.
- Propose alternative methods for prototype construction based on drawings from our NPD team in cases where designs prove impractical.
- Assemble furniture pieces and seamlessly integrate additional components or make necessary adjustments.
- Pro-actively source and communicate with local manufacturers and craft persons to gain components that cannot be made in-house and ordering materials from local suppliers.
- Upholster prototypes to design specifications.
- Working closely with design / production teams.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Previous demonstrated joinery/wood-working experience is essential.
- Confident in the use of power tools and equipment.
- Ability to work creatively with design concepts from the product development team.
- Strong communicator, working closely with design to suggest alternative options.
