Summary:

The candidate will operate within a variety of software development environments to provide support for development of various software programs, business and technical applications, web content, routine maintenance and management of critical Department of the Navy (DON) Cyber systems and adjoining administrative functions. The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for providing accurate and timely completion of technical development and support tasks in accordance with Information Systems standards and methodologies. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide technical decisions, and drive innovation. If you’re passionate about software development and have a deep understanding of high-level programming languages, we encourage you to apply.

General Function:

  • Develop in high-level programming languages (such as Java) in a range of development environments, such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, and NetBeans.
  • Develop software for cloud-based systems.
  • Requirements analysis and design.
  • Create and maintain software unit tests.
  • Use version control tools.
  • Code reviews.
  • Work with APIs and system interfaces.
  • Support the development of databases such as MS Access, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Use a variety of release environments (e.g., Development, Test, Production).
  • Attend virtual meetings with the customer.
  • Ensure code is compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy cybersecurity standards.
  • Work in approved DoD environments.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent professional certification for years of experience per Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (CSWF) certification requirements.
  • 10+ years’ experience in development and management of software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • IAT-III Certification: CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, CCSP.
  • Must possess and maintain government security clearance at the Secret Level.
  • Java programming language.
  • Superior teamwork skills and working within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong dedication to quality customer service.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Atlassian JIRA, ServiceNow, Microsoft SharePoint, and Wiki for content management.
  • Knowledge of IP-based systems and network protocols to develop and support communications protocols.
  • Experience with Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Automated testing scripts.
  • C# programming language.
  • Python programming language.
  • Microsoft VBA programming language.
