Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks an IT Network Infrastructure Engineer III to provide implementation, configuration, support, and troubleshooting of all hardware, operating systems, applications, and policies related to the networks infrastructure. This role is part of the Information Technology Systems department, Network infrastructure group.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science, Information Technology Systems
- A minimum of 6 years previous work experience in related ITS area
- Expert understanding of all layers of the OSI model
- Proficient in the configuration and installation of Layer 2 / 3 switches and routers
- Advanced understanding of and experience with VLAN design and configuration
- Strong Packet capture analysis skills
- Experience investigating and resolving help desk service requests and use of help desk software
- Strong understanding of and experience with configuring IP, OSPF, BGP, VRRP, SLPP, HSRP on Avaya and Cisco switches and routers
- Experience with Avaya ERS and VSP switches
- Experience with network cabling and an understanding of basic ethernet cabling requirements
- Expert understanding of and experience with configuring and troubleshooting Enterprise class wireless networks. (Aerohive and Cisco)
- Must be proficient in current Windows Operating Systems. Desktop and server
- Proficient in use of Linux
- Must have strong organizational skills to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests
- Must have the ability to adapt to and work effectively and independently in a fast paced, multitasking environment
- Must thrive under pressure and maintain composure when troubleshooting even the most critical system failures
- Must be able to evaluate and prioritize tasks for efficiency and completeness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, and requests for information
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Certificates – ACSS/CCIE/WCNA
- Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of plant and corporate personnel and with customers and vendors
- Must be able to complete all tasks associated with the installation/removal of networking equipment on a shop floor environment where equipment may be mounted in places only accessible by ladder
