We are Oxford Instruments, a company with a rich heritage of innovation that spans over six decades. Our journey began in 1959, when Sir Martin Wood, with the help of his wife Audrey Wood, founded the company in his garden shed in Oxford, England. From these humble beginnings, we've grown into a leading provider of high-technology tools and systems for research and industry, and we're proud to be the first substantial commercial spin-out company from the University of Oxford. Our core purpose is to support our customers to address some of the world's most pressing challenges, enabling a greener economy, increased connectivity, improved health, and leaps in scientific understanding. We achieve this by providing advanced solutions that create the environments and enable the measurements down to the atomic scale, which are critical to accelerating R&D and productivity.

Our commitment to innovation is unwavering. We were pioneers in the development of superconducting magnets and played a crucial role in the advent of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), manufacturing the first commercial MRI whole-body scanner in 1980. Today, our technologies are at the forefront of diverse fields such as materials analysis, semiconductor processing, quantum technology, and healthcare and life sciences. We design, manufacture, and support a wide range of products, including atomic force microscopes, cryogenic systems, electron spectroscopy and microanalysis systems, plasma and ion beam processing tools, and scientific cameras.
