Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our financial processes. This individual will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain the integrity of our accounting systems, and collaborate closely with various departments, including Sales, to support the company's growth and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with extensive experience in general accounting, NetSuite, commission processing, and advanced Excel functionalities.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger (GL) maintenance.
- Clean up and maintain the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Prepare and reconcile monthly cash reconciliations and month-end financial statements.
- Establish and streamline a simple, efficient month-end closing process.
- Perform detailed month-end reconciliations to ensure all accounts are accurately reported.
- Commission Processing:
- Manage and process sales commissions accurately and timely using NetSuite.
- Communicate effectively with the sales team regarding commission inquiries and discrepancies.
- Handle incoming calls related to commission processing with strong English communication skills.
- Systems & Data Management:
- Utilize NetSuite for all accounting functions, ensuring data integrity and optimal system performance.
- Demonstrate excellent Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
- Conduct data processing and clean-up activities to support financial accuracy.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with the Sales team to track budget versus actual performance.
- Support cross-functional teams with financial insights and analysis to drive business decisions.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- Analyze variances between budgeted and actual figures, providing actionable insights.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and financial issues promptly.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting, preferably within the solar or renewable energy industry.
- Proven experience with NetSuite ERP system.
- Demonstrated experience in commission processing and managing sales-related financial queries.
- Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
