The Job

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineering Consultant for a focused, 3-4 week engagement to facilitate the rapid integration of a distressed solar asset portfolio. This role is strictly focused on analyzing the end-to-end field service delivery processes—covering both W2 employee execution and 1099 contractor oversight. You will be responsible for mapping the acquired portfolio's current operational workflows, comparing them against our standards, identifying crucial gaps, and providing clear, actionable integration recommendations.

What You'll Do

  • End-to-End Process Mapping (Weeks 1-2): Rapidly interview stakeholders and review documentation from the acquired portfolio to fully map their service delivery workflows, which include both field and back-office activities. This mapping must explicitly cover:
  • Field Execution: On-site O&M, inventory consumption, and work completion by both W2 and 1099 personnel.
  • Back Office Oversight: Processes for dispatching, quality assurance (QA), invoicing, and compliance tracking for both employee and contractor networks.
  • W2 vs. 1099 Gap Analysis: Document key differences, inefficiencies, and risks between the acquired portfolio's processes and our company's established standards for managing both internal employees and external contractors.
  • Remediation and Recommendation: Develop and present a prioritized list of clear, concise, and resource-efficient process remediation recommendations necessary for rapid and compliant Field Service integration.
  • Documentation & Deliverables: Produce high-quality, standardized documentation, including detailed Process Flow Diagrams, comprehensive Work Instructions, and a final Executive Summary report outlining integration findings.

Who You Are

  • Autonomous and Focused: Can onboard quickly, work collaboratively with internal teams, and drive the project to completion with minimal daily oversight.
  • Expert Translator: Excels at taking complex, often undocumented, dual-model (W2/1099) procedures and translating them into clear, concise, and structured documentation for a technical audience.
  • Collaborative Analyst: A strong communicator who can professionally engage and gather information from both newly acquired and existing team members without disrupting daily operations.
  • Deadline Driven: Absolutely committed to delivering all required documentation and reports within the agreed-upon 3-4 week timeframe.

Experience You'll Need

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Process Improvement, Industrial Engineering, or Business Process Analysis.
  • Extensive, proven experience in process mapping and developing high-quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive gap analysis and translate findings into clear, data-backed business recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace for final documentation and report creation.

Experience That's a Plus

  • Direct experience with Solar Field Service and O&M workflows, especially managing a mix of W2 and 1099 service fulfillment.
  • Experience documenting processes related to acquisitions, mergers, or distressed asset portfolio integration.
  • Familiarity with common Field Service Management (FSM) systems and how they manage contractor compliance and internal employee workflows.

Work-Life and Culture

  • Most of our roles offer the opportunity to work remotely
  • If you are in the Seattle area, we offer a vibrant office space in the historic and beautiful Smith Tower, in the heart of Pioneer Square
  • We prioritize applicants near one of our employee clusters and offer one or more local gatherings per year
  • We provide outstanding benefits including family medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k) administration and $1k match per year and thoughtful paid time off

  • We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes monthly health insurance premiums, bonuses and long-term stock options for every employee
  • We love to lift each other up through company-wide slack channels such as #puppiesandpets, #omnidian-wellness, #praiseandbooms and #sustainablefuture
