About Our Practice

Milliman’s Data Science Modeling practice works a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, state and federal agencies, healthcare providers, reinsurance companies, and employers. The practice is led by some of the most experienced, most capable people in the health industry. For the right candidate, this opportunity will help you grow professionally while enjoying the work you do.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Analyze healthcare data, socioeconomic data and geocoded-climate data using machine learning in the cloud
  • Assist with literature search
  • Assist with research and marketing projects
  • Participate in trainings in the firm

To be successful in this role, you have the following qualifications:

Professional Qualifications:

  • Working towards or completed a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or another related field
  • College GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Expected graduation in 2025 or 2026

Personal Qualifications:

  • Interest in healthcare management, analytics, policy, health economics or other related fields
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Willingness and aptitude for detail work
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of database/statistical analysis language (SQL, R or Python)
  • Knowledge of GIS and its applications in econometric modeling and policy analysis
  • Experience of conducting literature search

Location

This is a remote position. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Boston, MA, for a week of initial training. The expected application deadline for this job is May 31, 2024.

Compensation

The hourly range for this role is $18 to $34, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
