Position: Senior Project Manager

Requirements

The Senior Project Manager is an individual with experience running complicated projects across a wide range of technology streams in an organisation providing consultancy and technology services as a key supplier. They are responsible for the end-to-end project management and professional implementation of IT business solutions and will have a proven record of success. Strong team work and analytical / problem solving skills are required to ensure effective delivery of projects.

The Project Manager will plan and resource a wide variety of customer projects, liaising internally with members of the Delivery team, Account Managers, Technical Leads, Technical Architects and externally with customers and third party suppliers. They will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with the customer representatives and all team members and will manage expectations effectively.

Throughout project planning and project implementation it will be the responsibility of the Project Manager to provide information on progress to the Senior Management team, Customer, project stakeholders and operations staff as necessary.

The Project Manager is expected to be an effective, assured leader who inspires confidence and respect from the internal teams, customers and suppliers. An effective Project Manager goes beyond traditional Project Management skills. They build strong interpersonal relationships and convey personal effectiveness to achieve their goals.

Essential skills

§ Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work collaboratively with team members and engage effectively with clients in a professional manner.

§ Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.

§ Action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems drawing on expertise and knowledge within the wider organisation if necessary.

§ Self-starter with the ability to appropriately prioritise and plan complex work in a rapidly changing environment.

§ Strong conceptual and analytical skills - demonstrating outside-the-box problem solving skills.

§ PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP

Experience required

§ Several years of experience in IT project management

§ Demonstrable experience at successfully managing the full project life cycle.

§ Experience of project managing implementation of cloud and Microsoft technologies

§ Experience of managing Transition & Transformation projects

§ Experience with Service delivery and transitioning systems into a production ready state.

§ Broad knowledge & experience of various Microsoft technologies

§ Commercial knowledge to create proposals and revise responses to tenders

§ Experience in delivering projects using different methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

Responsibilities

§ Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with Senior Management & Stakeholders

§ Own the technical implementation from project commencement to client sign-off and initiating corrective action, where necessary.

§ Identify internal and external resources, whether financial or human, to deliver the project successfully

§ Evaluate the progress of project on regular basis and take proactive steps to resolve any risks or issues

§ Set and continually manage realistic and practical goals for the project.

§ Develop full scale project plans and any associated project governance

§ Develop and deliver progress reports, documentation and presentations

§ Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project teams

§ Deliver release/go live successfully

§ Set and manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders

§ Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths

§ Propose technically feasible, and commercially viable delivery solutions and work closely with clients to implement their projects. Establish success criteria and act as the single point of contact for the client for all issues and technical deliverables during the delivery and integration.

§ Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

§ Ownership of the budget and all financial project reporting.

§ Produce clear and concise documentation of requirements/solutions suitable for multiple levels of stakeholders.

§ Responsible for project administration.

§ Responsible for the running of technical workshops covering multiple technologies, drawing on internal specialist resource where required

§ Input to project pipeline planning, release and resource planning to maintain effective team utilisation

§ May also input to the planning of bid proposals to confirm delivery timescales.

§ Identify areas of improvement that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve Method’s methodology to deliver high quality integrations.

§ Must be willing to travel to customer sites as required

§ All other duties as required
