Job Description
As a Balancing and Dispatching Manager, you will be responsible for the short-term management of an energy contracts portfolio (electricity and natural gas), executing balancing actions—both indirectly through flexible contracts and directly via SPOT market trading. You will oversee nomination processes with system operators, maintain relationships with suppliers and dispatch departments of system operators, and perform a wide range of analyses and reporting related to this domain.

Scope of Responsibilities:
- Short-Term Portfolio Management – Coordination of day-ahead and intraday balancing of natural gas and electricity portfolios on a 24/7 basis, based on conditions jointly established with Portfolio Management and Gas Desk MET International. This includes managing volume mandates and executing balancing actions, including trading on the SPOT market (TGE/OTC) to ensure portfolio balance.
- Demand Forecasting – Development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of short-term forecasting models for portfolios, customer segments, and large industrial consumers, based on consumption data, weather information and qualitative factors.
- Nomination and Scheduling Supervision – Oversight of compliance with obligations toward transmission, distribution, and storage system operators (TSOs, DSOs, SSOs) concerning the submission of nominations and schedules within agreed deadlines, as well as coordination of matching processes with trading partners.
- Reporting – Preparation of reports covering, among others, the effectiveness of balancing and forecasting, volume mandates, SPOT trading results, current consumption, and weather forecasts.
- Process Automation – Automation of processes related to data aggregation for balancing purposes, forecasting, nominations, scheduling, and reporting. This is done in cooperation with the Digitalisation Manager, developers, Portfolio Manager, and Gas Desk MET International.
- Team Development – Building a team of dispatchers, analysts, and intraday market traders.
Qualifications
Experience:
o Minimum of 4 years in the field of energy sector balancing and dispatching operations.
o Practical knowledge of portfolio balancing processes, balancing position management, and balancing actions including SPOT market trading.
o Familiarity with technical communication standards with system operators regarding nominations, schedules, and real-time measurement data (e.g., EDI, AS4, ESS, SOWE, CSIRE).
Expertise in Forecasting Methodologies – Strong understanding of advanced methodologies for forecasting natural gas and electricity demand.
Education: University degree in energy, finance, economics, or mathematics.
Work Availability: Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays (fully remote) in the scope of balancing, nomination, and scheduling process supervision.
Technical Skills:
o Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel with VBA.
o Basic knowledge of SQL and programming/model development in R or Python.
o Familiarity with ETRM tools (e.g., Endur), EDM, SCADA systems is an asset.
Competencies: Ability to work independently, efficiently manage multiple concurrent tasks, operate under time pressure, make prompt decisions, and demonstrate high precision and attention to detail in analytical work. A proactive approach to identifying and implementing optimization and automation opportunities is highly valued.
Languages: Fluent in both Polish and English.
