This position leads a team who reviews physical appraisal reports to assess properties and assist Manulife Bank in the decision to take a property on as security. The primary accountability of this role is to provide effective, client-focused leadership to the team; ensuring productivity, quality and turnaround times are achieved; and to manage the risk associated with making decisions on whether to accept properties as security in return for mortgage funding from Manulife Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of Quality Assurance Analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
Firsthand experience in underwriting mortgages
Oversee the execution of quality audits on mortgage files, underwriting decisions, and transaction data.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSFI, CMHC).
Analyze QA findings to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvement.
Provide Monthly report to leadership team
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including underwriting, operations, compliance, and training.
Develop and maintain 1A frameworks, scorecards, and reporting tools.
Support audit readiness and contribute to internal and external audit processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of quality and accountability.
Bilingualism is considered an asset
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, quality assurance, or compliance.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of Canadian mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in QA tools, Excel, and loan origination systems (e.g., BankLink).
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Quality Assurance, Mortgage Underwriting, or Process Improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Sharepoint).
Familiarity with insurer guidelines and audit processes.
Working Conditions:

Salary range is expected to be between
