About the Role
As a senior full stack engineer, you will be working across all aspects of our system (backend, frontend, and infrastructure), building new features for our customers and internal users, improving stability, resiliency, and performance, helping scale and extend existing systems in maintainable ways, and building new systems as we continue to grow.
You will:
- Take responsibility for and drive new feature development in collaboration with product leadership, other engineers, and designers
- Build new features from data design to backend APIs to frontend React UI to HTML/CSS
- Design, build, and maintain core data models, systems, and internal APIs
- Work on system architecture and design of new systems as well as extending our existing systems in maintainable ways
- Help to scale our existing systems as we continue to grow and add new customers
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
- Work to provide a stable, performant, and resilient system for our customers
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes to help us build and iterate quickly
Technologies You Will Work With
Backend/Rest API: Kotlin/JVM, PostgreSQL, AWS (RDS, SQS, Lambda, EC2/EB)
Frontend: Typescript, React, Sass/CSS
While experience or familiarity with our technology stack is a plus, it’s not a requirement: we care more about your general engineering skill set, and your ability to pick up new languages and technologies quickly.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Senior-level experience in a programming language such as Kotlin, C#, Java, Ruby, etc
- Someone who enjoys being a generalist working on the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight our internal users and customers
- Experience building software and systems that strike a balance amongst simplicity, flexibility, and maintainability
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, iterative environment working with teammates, internal stakeholders, and customers
- Someone who takes pride in working on projects from start to finish involving a wide variety of technologies and systems
- Ability to stitch together many different services and processes even if you have not worked with them before
- Someone who can empathize with users and be a steward of crafting great experiences
- Ability to identify and weigh tradeoffs amongst technical, business, and customer priorities
- Someone who will uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design
