About Main Template
The story of Telecare Corporation began in 1965, born from a shared vision of three compassionate innovators: Art Gladman, a psychiatrist; Lida Hahn, a psychiatric nurse; and Morton Bakar, a businessman. United by a belief in the rehabilitation potential of individuals with serious mental illness, they set out to create a new kind of care environment—one that was individualized, hopeful, and centered on the client's dignity. What started as a single commitment to better care has evolved into a leading behavioral health organization.
In 1987, the leadership torch passed to Anne Bakar, the daughter of co-founder Morton Bakar. Under her guidance, Telecare transformed from a regional provider with five programs into a national leader in the behavioral health sector. Today, the company operates over 170 programs across multiple states, serving tens of thousands of individuals annually. Despite its massive growth, Telecare has remained true to its roots as a family- and employee-owned organization, fostering a culture where staff are invested in the mission and the success of the people they serve.
