The successful applicant for this position will be joining the Analytical Development team within Clinical Development in Lonza Singapore. The Clinical Development group is responsible for the development and characterization of manufacturing processes used for the production of novel therapeutic recombinant proteins for Lonza’s global client base. The purpose of this role is to execute laboratory work to generate analytical data to support the cell line development and upstream/downstream process development teams.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Support process development teams by generating analytical test data to enable cell line selection, upstream process development and purification process development.

  • Note: A subset of analytical activities are performed to cGMP standards and may suit a candidate with experience in a QC laboratory.

  • Test methods include:

  • HPLC methods: size exclusion HPLC, Protein A HPLC, RP HPLC, oligosaccharide analysis.

  • Capillary based methods: CE SDS, icIEF.

  • ELISA methods: antigen binding assays, host cell protein determination, detection of residual Protein A.

  • Other methods include qPCR testing for residual DNA, titer determination using Octet and western blotting.

  • Collaborate with other functions within the department, to enable smooth progress of projects.

  • To communicate project updates to internal stakeholders.

  • To contribute to the efficient running of the department including instigating and delivering operational efficiency projects.

  • To work to the highest scientific standards under the direction of the Line Manager.

  • Contribute to departmental safety programs.

  • The role may require weekend working on an ad hoc basis.

  • Meticulous and attention to detail.

Education / Experience

  • Up to 2 years practical laboratory experience in analytical testing would be considered advantageous although full training will be provided for entry level candidates.

  • Theoretical knowledge of mammalian protein expression and protein biochemistry.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other relevant software packages.

  • Demonstrated experience of direct interaction with external and/or internal customers would be considered beneficial.

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Good team working skills.

  • Good understanding and application of cGMP concepts.
