Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team supporting the Army Training Information System (ATIS) program. This role is critical to the successful integration of ATIS Learning into the ATIS Operating Environment (AOE). You will work within a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative DevSecOps environment alongside cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to support deployment, system configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux-based environments in AWS GovCloud.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead for Linux system configuration and administration supporting ATIS Learning components within the AOE.
  • Configure, manage, and maintain Linux-based EC2 instances and container environments (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu).
  • Support the integration of ATIS Learning components into existing CI/CD pipelines in a secure, automated fashion.
  • Ensure system compliance with DoD STIGs, DISA security requirements, and RMF cybersecurity controls.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks, bash scripts, and infrastructure-as-code templates (e.g., Terraform) to provision and maintain systems in AWS.
  • Work with cybersecurity personnel to install patches, perform ACAS scans, and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve OS-level issues affecting platform services or application deployment.
  • Monitor system health, respond to alerts, and maintain logs for auditing and incident response.
  • Participate in change management, technical review boards, and deployment planning processes.
  • Support ATO documentation and sustainment of the ConMon package for ATIS Learning-related infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with application developers, cybersecurity analysts, and cloud architects to ensure secure and performant Linux systems within the AOE.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, preferably in a DoD or federal environment.
  • Experience working in AWS environments, particularly in GovCloud or other regulated cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD security standards, including STIGs, ACAS scans, and eMASS documentation.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) and at least one automation tool (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS) is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • DoD SECRET Clearance required
  • Travel to Virginia for in person PI Planning required (2-3 day event once per quarter)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other AWS-native monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe development environments.
  • Prior experience supporting Learning Management Systems or DoD training environments.
