We are seeking an Associate Planning Engineer to join our dynamic Energy & Systems Solutions team. In this role, you will provide transmission planning consulting services as an entry-level engineer, working under the supervision of senior staff on projects for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Regional Planning organizations (ISOs/RTOs). This position offers a foundational opportunity to develop technical expertise within the Leidos Planning practice.
Responsibilities
You will work on day-to-day objectives with limited impact beyond the scope of your assigned project team. Duties include:
- Technical Support: Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies.
- Systems Analysis: Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering to support transmission system planning and power system analysis.
- Tool Utilization: Utilize and develop proficiency in industry-standard analytical tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN.
- Documentation: Assist in the technical writing of project findings and contribute to the preparation of basic analysis for project reports.
- Communication: Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes related to your work area.
- Professional Development: Learn to apply NERC reliability standards FERC regulatory policies, or IEEE standards to real-world infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- Experience: Less than 1 year of prior relevant experience.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of the electrical engineering domain (e.g., load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry).
- Analytical Skills: Ability to solve routine technical problems in a team environment.
- Communication: Demonstrates solid oral and written communication skills for peer-to-peer collaboration.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites as required for data collection or team meetings.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
