LEAP Legal Software embarked on its journey in 1992, founded by Christian Beck in Sydney, Australia. A key part of LEAP's growth strategy involved strategic acquisitions, such as LegalPax in 2008, which expanded its offerings in automated forms and precedents. Recognizing the transformative potential of cloud technology, LEAP launched LEAP Expedite in early 2010, marking its initial foray into cloud-based solutions. This was followed by the release of LEAP Office 10 later that year. The company continued to innovate, replacing LEAP Expedite with a rewritten, more robust cloud product in 2012 and commencing the rollout of this cloud version to Australian law firms in January 2013.

A pivotal moment came in 2016 with the launch of LEAP 365, touted as the first software-as-a-service legal application for the Australian market, which was subsequently released in the UK and US. Further solidifying its global presence, LEAP expanded into Canada in 2020 and New Zealand in 2022. Throughout its history, LEAP has consistently invested in research and development, aiming to provide comprehensive, integrated productivity solutions that encompass legal accounting, document assembly and management, client collaboration, and legal publishing assets.
