The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS systems. This role involves maintaining and supporting our mainframe environment, ensuring system performance, and implementing necessary upgrades and patches. This position is fully remote and a 6 month contract to hire.
Responsibilities:
- System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.
- Manage system software, including upgrades and patches.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- System Support:
- Provide technical support for mainframe systems and applications.
- Collaborate with application developers and other IT teams to resolve system issues.
- Conduct system backups and recovery operations.
- System Security:
- Implement and manage security policies to ensure system integrity.
- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Manage user access and permissions.
- System Optimization:
- Optimize system performance through tuning and capacity planning.
- Analyze system workloads and make recommendations for improvements.
- Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline operations.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
