The Field Service Engineer II interacts directly with the customer at its place of business to develop the methods and processes best suited to meet the requirements of integrating products into the customer’s operations. The Field Service Engineer provides on-site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, moderate PLC program modifications, preventative maintenance, training of customer’s personnel, system audits and installation of various retrofits to material handling equipment.

In addition to the basic services provided, the Field Service Engineer II is responsible for planned and emergency service calls varying from mechanical, electrical, system control issues and may assist with equipment installation and subcontractor management.

Requirements

  • Conducts the following: planned/emergency service calls, various rebuilds on equipment, system.
  • Audits, and preventive maintenance contracts.
  • Prepares needed tools and reviewing drawings etc. for service calls.
  • Completes the following reports: service, expense, preventive maintenance contract, and system audits.
  • Research part numbers from service calls.
  • Research information related to service/manual readings prior to and during service calls.
  • Checks retrofits parts orders and rebuild project parts orders.
  • Communicates with customers on system related issues.
  • Reviews service reports with the customer.
  • Updates dashboard incident retrieval.
  • Conducts system walk-downs or walk-throughs.
  • Assists in training customer maintenance staff.
  • Completes warranty request forms.
  • Diagnoses field mechanical and controls programming issues.
  • Works with Engineering and Parts to file parts requests to solve field issues and works with Engineering to solve system problems.
  • Communicates with other FSE's, management and engineering to discuss solutions to problems.
  • Assists Customer Support with mechanical and electrical related calls.
  • Upsells customer on upgrades and new products to enhance efficiency.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

3-5 years of field service, system maintenance, mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting experience showing progressive increase in responsibility.

Proficient with mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting.
Proficient with financial and budget knowledge

Proficient with system parts application / knowledge

Proficient with product specific rebuilds.

Proficient with NFPA electrical / building codes

Proficient with planning / scheduling service deliverables

Intermediate ability to review and identify description of facility operations.

Intermediate ability to review as-built drawings / generate drawings as necessary.

Proficient commissioning (Functional and System Testing)

Proficient MS Office Skills

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 90% travel overnight US & International travel may be necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to work in areas that are not environmentally controlled, possibly in very hot or cold conditions. Some areas may have exposure to contaminants and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There will also be some walking, standing, bending, occasional carrying of medium to heavy items, etc.

Additional work atmosphere considerations: work on a ladder, mezzanine, or scissor lift etc. May work in cramped areas or involve awkward positions; may climb over and around material and equipment. Associate(s) may be required to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with regulatory agencies.
