This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Rust in the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, and Italy.
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Rust, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software across multiple codebases and services. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor peers, and advocate for best practices while ensuring scalable, robust, and efficient systems. This role provides the opportunity to work across distributed teams, tackle complex system challenges, and shape the engineering culture. Your expertise in Rust, combined with experience in distributed systems, cloud platforms, and modern development workflows, will directly contribute to delivering innovative solutions in a high-performance environment. You will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, fostering collaboration, and supporting continuous improvement.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software components and RESTful APIs using Rust.
- Lead technical initiatives, act as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance across multiple teams and projects.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize complex systems to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Mentor and grow other engineers, providing technical reviews, knowledge sharing, and career guidance.
- Integrate software components, third-party libraries, and deploy programs while ensuring observability and monitoring.
- Participate in incident response, handling severity 1 issues on deployed products when necessary.
- Write clear documentation, technical manuals, and specifications to support code maintainability.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Rust; experience with Haskell, Scala, or JavaScript is a plus.
- Deep understanding of Rust’s ownership model, borrowing, lifetimes, concurrency, and multithreading paradigms.
- Experience developing web services, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of Agile software development, Git workflows, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
- Skilled in test-driven development (TDD) and software engineering best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of cryptography protocols or Web3 technologies is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
