In this role, you will lead the maturity and adoption of Agile practices across multiple software development teams, ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery in a dynamic environment. You will balance management responsibilities with hands-on facilitation, working directly with one or two teams as their Scrum Master while guiding other Scrum Masters in their professional growth. This position requires strong coaching skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to remove impediments and drive continuous improvement. You will champion Agile principles, elevate delivery processes, and help shape an environment where teams can thrive. Accountabilities:
- Coach multiple development teams in Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean, while managing and supporting a team of Scrum Masters.
- Serve as a hands-on Scrum Master for one to two teams, facilitating ceremonies, clearing impediments, and ensuring the delivery of incremental value.
- Partner with Product Owners to maintain healthy backlogs, aligned priorities, and smooth delivery workflows.
- Deliver training workshops and materials on Agile fundamentals, advanced practices, and role-specific skills for teams and stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaborative events such as release planning, story mapping, and value stream mapping to enhance team alignment and effectiveness.
- Conduct Agile maturity assessments and define improvement roadmaps that support organizational transformation.
- Identify and escalate systemic impediments while partnering with leadership to establish an empowered, Agile-friendly environment.
- Guide teams in using meaningful delivery metrics to encourage data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
- Promote experimentation, learning culture, and professional development across all Agile teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development environments, including SaaS, with at least 3+ years as an Agile Coach or 5+ years as a multi-team Scrum Master.
- Proven experience managing and guiding Scrum Masters, along with a strong track record as a hands-on Scrum Master.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and related practices.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and coaching skills with the ability to influence across multiple levels.
- Certification in Agile methodologies, such as CSP-SM, PSM II/III, or ICP-ACC.
- Builder mindset with the ability to design scalable Agile processes and drive organizational adoption.
- Passion for mission-driven work and the nonprofit technology space.
- Bonus skills include experience with scaled Agile frameworks, DevOps practices, CI/CD, TDD, change management, or advanced coaching credentials.
