This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Development Manager, ERCOT in the United States.
In this role, you will lead the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the ERCOT market, including solar, wind, and battery storage initiatives. You will manage projects from early-stage greenfield development or acquisition through financial close, ensuring successful execution by coordinating cross-functional teams and external consultants. This position requires building strong relationships with landowners, regulatory agencies, and local stakeholders while maintaining project budgets, schedules, and technical oversight. You will play a key role in shaping project strategy, analyzing off-take opportunities, and supporting financial modeling efforts. Frequent travel within the market is expected to support stakeholder engagement and project development. Accountabilities
- Implement regional development strategies to identify, evaluate, and advance renewable energy projects from greenfield to financial close.
- Lead greenfield site identification, land agreement negotiations, and securing local, state, and federal permits.
- Oversee due diligence activities, including surveys, title work, tax agreements, and environmental assessments.
- Engage with landowners, local officials, and community stakeholders to build support for projects.
- Manage internal teams and external consultants across origination, legal, interconnection, environmental permitting, construction, government affairs, engineering, and finance.
- Track project budgets, schedules, and milestone progress, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Support revenue planning and off-take analysis in collaboration with commercial and finance teams.
- Prepare and present development updates, risks, and investment recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years managing multiple development projects in renewable energy, power generation, or utilities.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing consultants.
- Proven track record in land agreements, regulatory approvals, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn project-specific software.
- Self-motivated, capable of independent work, and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel 30–50% of the time within the region and safely navigate project sites.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work both in-office and in hybrid/remote settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing projects from early-stage development through financial close, especially in ERCOT.
- Knowledge of the data center market, including energy procurement strategies and site selection factors.
- Strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to align stakeholders with project goals.
