Job Title: Assessor - Level 6 Diploma

Pay: Freelance Associate role with pay equivalent to £25 per hour

Location: Remote

Description: Working on the IOSH Level 6 Diploma in OSH Leadership and Management with IOSH Academy, the Assessor is responsible for reviewing candidate assessment portfolios against the relevant marking criteria, making informed and consistent judgements, and providing clear, constructive feedback to support candidate achievement. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Make fair, valid, and reliable assessment decisions in line with the qualification standards and marking schemes.
  • Evaluate candidate evidence thoroughly and determine whether it meets the required assessment criteria.
  • Complete all required assessment documentation accurately, providing detailed, high-quality commentary to justify assessment decisions.
  • Ensure that all assessment methods used align with those specified in the qualification specification.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and actionable feedback via the assessment platform, clearly explaining decisions and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Meet agreed deadlines for feedback release and completion of assessment-related documentation.
  • Review Turnitin similarity and AI-generated content reports, taking appropriate action in line with organisational plagiarism policies.
  • Discuss, confirm, and implement reasonable adjustments and special considerations in accordance with organisational policy.
  • Participate in regular standardisation activities with the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) and implement any resulting actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IOSH policies, procedures, and qualification specifications, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Prepare for and support External Quality Assurance (EQA) activities, ensuring previous actions have been addressed and contributing to the implementation of any recommendations.
  • Adhere to data protection requirements and maintain strict confidentiality in line with GDPR regulations.
  • Take responsibility for personal health, safety, and wellbeing, and fulfil all health and safety duties associated with the role.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by treating all colleagues, candidates, and stakeholders with dignity and respect, reflecting IOSH values and behaviours.
  • Promote and apply principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope and grade of the role, recognising that responsibilities may evolve in line with organisational needs.

Requirements:

  • Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 6 in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Sector (Essential)
  • Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment or equivalent such as A1 Assessing, D32 or D33 (Essential)
  • Hold Grad IOSH or Chartered Membership status with IOSH (Desirable)
