The journey of Instrumental, Inc. began with a direct insight into the heart of modern manufacturing's most significant challenges. Its founders, Anna-Katrina Shedletsky and Samuel Weiss, while working as product design engineers at Apple, experienced firsthand the pervasive inefficiencies and waste that plagued the electronics industry. This intimate understanding of what they term the 'trillion-dollar problem' in manufacturing – where an estimated twenty cents of every dollar spent is lost to inefficiency – became the crucible for their innovative idea.

Driven by this experience, they embarked on a mission in 2014 to create a solution, officially founding Instrumental in 2015. Their vision was clear: to revolutionize how electronics products are conceived, built, and brought to market. The system was meticulously designed to serve as an indispensable component of the modern manufacturing technology stack, featuring easily deployable data collection stations, the creation of a complete visual archive for every unit produced, and AI-driven insights to accelerate issue discovery and drastically reduce waste.
