Overview

Instacart’s Invoicing Platform team builds and operates the financial backbone that powers billions of dollars in transactions across our ecosystem. As the Engineering Manager, Software for this platform, you will lead a high-impact team responsible for accurate, transparent, and trustworthy invoicing across key touch points including checkout, order status, and receipts—online and in-store.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with Product Management, Data Science, Finance, Compliance, and Retail teams to define and deliver a platform-first vision for invoicing. You’ll guide the architecture and operations of scalable, reliable services and data flows that enable seamless commerce experiences for customers and retailers while meeting strict audit and compliance needs.

You’ll lead approximately 10 backend engineers, shaping team culture and engineering excellence in a fast-paced, evolving environment. If you’re energized by complex, large-scale distributed systems; motivated by measurable impact on customer trust and retailer outcomes; and excited to roll up your sleeves and collaborate across functions, this role is for you. This role is remote-friendly across the U.S. and Canada.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager for the Invoicing Platform team, you’ll lead a group of 10+ backend engineers to develop and maintain Instacart’s mission-critical platform, which powers billions of dollars in transactions across our ecosystem. Your work will provide the financial backbone for all orders while ensuring invoicing data is presented with clarity, trust, and consistency across key customer touch points, including checkout, order status, and receipts.

In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Data Science, Finance, Compliance, and Retail to build a unified, platform-first vision for invoicing. Together, you’ll drive innovative commerce experiences for Instacart and our retail partners, both online and in-store.

By building scalable and reliable solutions, your leadership will ensure our platform remains essential to the smooth operation of our ecosystem, empowers retailers, enhances transparency for customers, and transforms how invoicing supports innovative commerce solutions while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

About the Team

The Invoicing Platform team is at the core of Instacart’s Platform organization, owning the technology that powers billions in transactions annually. You’ll join a team passionate about building and scaling the financial backbone of Instacart while tackling some of the most complex challenges across our ecosystem of customers, retailers, and partners. We are builders and innovators who anticipate where the industry and our stakeholders are headed, and turn that vision into platform-first solutions that scale broadly and reliably.

We value clarity, transparency, and collaboration, and celebrate creativity, experimentation, and learning from every challenge. If you enjoy solving deeply technical problems, building systems with massive scale, and driving innovation that creates trust and consistency, this is the team for you. Together, we’ll deliver impactful solutions that drive accuracy, transparency, and innovation across Instacart’s ecosystem.
