Are you a transitioning military service member or a Military Spouse looking for an internship that supports the goal to put health first?

The Senior Data and Reporting Professional Intern will utilize Humana’s Medicaid training and engage formerly acquired skillsets to participate in generating ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts. The Senior Data and Reporting Professional Intern work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The DOD SkillBridge Internship Program provides an opportunity for transitioning military service members to gain civilian work experience with an employer for a period between 90 and 180 days upon approval.


The Military Spouse Fellowship Program connects military spouses with employers offering a variety of professional onsite, field, or remote based opportunities.

The Senior Data and Reporting Professional Intern integrates data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements.

  • Programs and maintains report forms and formats, information dashboards, data generators, canned reports and other end-user information portals or resources.

  • May create specifications for reports based on business requests.

  • Begins to influence department’s strategy.

  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a transitioning service member eligible to participate in SkillBridge or military spouse eligible to participate in the military spouse fellowship

  • Minimum 3 years of technical experience which will include compiling, modeling, interpreting, building, merging, and analyzing data to identify, explain, influence variances and trends data reporting

  • Intermediate to Advanced comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel including ability to link pivots to external data sources, creating pivot tables and summarizing data into reports and dashboards

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL and/or other similar data systems

  • Experience in creating dashboards, projections, models, and presentations to support business

  • Experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations and/or the analysis of healthcare data, population health, quality, and clinical data

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • SAS, 3M, Tableau and Qlik experience

  • Experience in a system analytics and/or data warehousing environment

  • Medicaid/Medicare

Workstyle: Remote work at home

Location: U.S.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern

  • Flexibility to attend meetings if outside Eastern Time Zone

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership. Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
