Lead Java/Scala Software Engineer

What's the role?

HERE is searching for a Lead Software Engineer (Backend) for our Foundation Engineering team. Foundation Engineering enables the creation of mapping products that are highly available, performant, and near real-time.

Within Foundation Engineering, You will be part of Traffic automated road closure detection and verification(ACV/ACD) and Development team. This a real-time system with big data processing that uses AI/ML to solve one of the most important of traffic road closure functionality. This system has a very high SLA needs and already running in production which needs maintenance and enhancement several features are in pipeline to develop.

The job includes all parts of software development lifecycle: refining product vision, gathering requirements, software system design, coding, testing, release and support. As our team is spread around the globe, you will work collaboratively with other team members from different locations.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle of our service
• Develop an innovative, scalable, high-quality system within a cross-functional team
• Write clean, simple, and well-tested code following TDD
• Contribute ideas for new features and identify areas for improvement
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery of systems and infrastructure
• Provide rotational on-call support to the product and root cause analysis of software and system defects
• Direct code and technical contributions, not delegating all hands on work
• Technical Architecture of the Service
• Technical topics focusing on more than one developer – this means fostering and mediating technical debates within the service

Who are you?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field (or an equivalent level of practical experience)
• 5+ years of professional expertise as a Software Engineering Life Cycle
• Proficiency with distributed systems and distributed computing
• Display proficiency in Java
• Strong with logical & problem solving - Data Strcutures, Algorithms
• Proficiency in using continuous integration, build and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Git/Gerrit, Wikis).
• Additionally, worked in utilizing Any cloud or AWS technologies such as Amazon EMR, S3, EC2, and Athena knowledgeable about various deployment approaches
• Exhibit exceptional aptitude in tackling intricate issues, showcasing adeptness in identifying and resolving technical hurdles
• Showcase robust communication and collaborative abilities, effectively contributing within a team-based setting
• Possess an inherent enthusiasm for continuous learning and a commitment to remaining current with the latest trends and technologies in software development

Experience/Knowledge in any of the following areas would be a plus:

• Experience with working in Scala, Functional Programming, Big Data
• CI/CD pipeline (Gitlab), Containers (Docker) and their orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Applying Machine Learning techniques & algorithms
• Location-based services such as mapping, navigation, GPS
