Data Engineer

Position Overview

HeadQuarters is a global start-up that partners with US cannabis companies to provide support in finance, sales operations, marketing and logistics.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing tech team and help us build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers our analytics and decision-making.

As we continue expanding, we need someone who can confidently own API integrations, normalize incoming data, and create reliable base tables that serve as the foundation for reporting and insights.

This role can start as part-time with the opportunity to grow into full-time, and we are also open to full-time engagement from the beginning.

The working schedule is aligned with the EST time zone.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain API integrations
• Ingest, clean, and normalize data from external sources
• Create reliable base tables for reporting
• Write and optimize SQL queries
• Develop and maintain Python-based data pipelines
• Orchestrate workflows using Airflow
• Manage GitHub repositories and scheduled data pushes (e.g., into BigQuery)
• Test and validate data accuracy (ensuring API outputs match UI data)
• Collaborate closely with Product, Data Analytics, and Engineering

Requirements

Must-Have

• 1+ year of hands-on data engineering experience (not just analytics)
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience ingesting API data into a data warehouse
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines
• Experience working with Airflow (or similar orchestration tools)
• Comfort managing GitHub repositories
• Strong testing mindset and attention to detail
• GitHub profile link included in your application

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with BigQuery
• Experience with Postgres or Supabase
• Familiarity with Jira or other ticketing tools
• Exposure to Looker Studio, Tableau, or AWS
