Most accounting roles promise broad exposure. This one promises something different: a focused, specialist pathway into UK VAT, with the support of GCO Partners behind you and a credible UK client team around you.

As part of the GCO Partners network, you would be embedded into the team of a specialist UK VAT consulting firm, working with their senior consultants remotely from South Africa. You will not be handed off and left to figure it out. GCO supports the professionals in its network throughout the engagement, not just at the start.

This is a role for someone who wants to build a technical career in VAT. If you are looking for a broad accounting rotation, this is probably not the right fit. If you are drawn to detail, accuracy, tax logic and the idea of becoming genuinely expert in something, read on.

What you will be doing:

You will support senior VAT consultants with real client work. That includes preparing straightforward VAT returns, supporting VAT audits, drafting letters and factual summaries, preparing HMRC correspondence and scoping and SPV reports, and helping the team stay on top of client deadlines and delivery admin. Your work will be reviewed carefully, and feedback will be a regular and constructive part of how you grow.

Over time, as your UK VAT knowledge develops, you will take on more complex work and more responsibility.
