Fortiro was founded in 2021 by experts in technology, fraud and forensics who saw financial institutions struggling to verify the increasing volume and sophistication of documents used in lending, insurance and payment decisions. The company set out to make document-based decisions faster and more trustworthy by replacing slow manual reviews with automated fraud detection and financial verification. Today, Fortiro operates as a fintech company headquartered in Australia, serving banks, non-bank lenders, insurers, payments companies and other enterprises. Its Software as a Service platform comprises Fortiro Protect, which detects fraudulent documents and provides actionable risk scores; Fortiro Accelerate, which extracts and verifies income and expense data from documents such as payslips and bank statements; and Fortiro Redact, which automatically redacts sensitive information. Fortiro combines AI, image forensics, machine learning, optical character recognition, natural language processing and data analytics to inspect document content, visual characteristics, metadata and digital forensic properties. The platform can process documents through its user interface or API, integrates with loan origination systems, and is built and hosted on Amazon Web Services.
