Footprint Project

Footprint Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit disaster management organization headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, that develops and deploys sustainable infrastructure networks to empower community resilience. Founded in 2018, the organization is dedicated to helping communities #BuildBackGreener after climate disasters by mobilizing cleaner energy for those in crisis.

Their mission focuses on decarbonizing disaster response and empowering community resilience in the face of increasing extreme weather events. With over 30 disaster response and recovery missions completed, Footprint Project has deployed more than 300 kilowatts of mobile solar and 4 megawatt hours of mobile batteries. They've powered over 250 resilience hubs during outages, trained more than 500 responders, and provided energy access to over 50,000 people during power outages. The organization has been recognized with accolades including TIME's Best Inventions of 2022 and Microgrid Knowledge's Person of the Year.

Footprint Project operates through four main programs: Rapid Disaster Response, Long-Term Resilience, Community Builds, and Upcycled Energy. They work across the entire disaster management cycle to expand frontline access to climate technologies and reduce fossil fuel use in the field. Their vision is a world where the disaster response, recovery, and rebuild sector is fully decarbonized, leaving a net positive impact on ecosystems while empowering communities to survive future climate disasters.
