First Chicago Insurance Company (FCIC) was founded on December 14, 1920, originally under the name Chicago Ice Producers Mutual Liability Company. The primary goal at that time was to provide insurance for members of the Chicago District Ice Association, focusing on general liability, workers compensation, and insurance for commercial vehicles. With initial financial support from association members, the company managed to gather the necessary capital to commence operations.

Over the decades, FCIC has dynamically evolved from a mutual insurance company into a multi-line insurance carrier. Today, FCIC specializes in offering affordable personal and commercial auto insurance products tailored for good drivers, especially in the Chicagoland area. The operation has expanded its range to include general liability insurance, thus ensuring comprehensive coverage for a plethora of needs. FCIC currently provides insurance services across several states including, but not limited to, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and Texas.
