About Excel Academy Charter Schools
Excel Academy Charter Schools was founded in Massachusetts in 2003 with the mission to provide a high-quality education to students in East Boston and Chelsea, communities that are predominantly low-income and Latinx and have historically faced significant social and educational barriers. Each school is tuition-free, and students are admitted through a blind public lottery.
The success of Excel Academy in Massachusetts serves as proof that the opportunity gap can be closed. At Excel Academy, we empower our students by providing them with the support and resources necessary to pursue productive post-secondary pathways that align with their personal identities and values. Over the years, aspiring to transform lives and communities, Excel Academy has expanded from one middle school to a network of four schools, currently serving approximately 1,400 students in grades 5 to 12.
