What began as a humble gathering of individuals determined to combat homelessness has evolved into a formidable organization known as PATH, established in 1983. Starting with a simple mission to distribute food and clothing to those living on the streets, PATH has become a beacon of hope for thousands of individuals and families experiencing homelessness across California. Over the decades, the organization has notably expanded its reach to encompass over 150 cities, providing essential supportive services and building affordable housing designed to end homelessness permanently.

At the heart of PATH's mission is the belief in Housing First principles, which emphasize the importance of securing stable housing before addressing other issues. This innovative approach has allowed PATH to connect more than 25,000 individuals to permanent housing since 2013. With a dedicated team of 1,400 staff members, PATH operates numerous programmes offering mental health support, substance use treatment, and employment assistance among others. In 2007, PATH Ventures, a real estate affiliate, was founded to enhance housing solutions and has since developed nearly 2,500 affordable homes, ensuring that the focus remains on long-term stability and independence for the residents served. As PATH continues to grow, it stands steadfast in its commitment to transforming California communities by making homelessness a rare, brief, and non-recurring experience.
