The Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) is a leading non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington, dedicated to addressing homelessness in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1979, DESC operates under the guiding principle that housing is a basic human right. Our mission is to help individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly those struggling with serious mental illnesses and substance use disorders, to achieve their highest potential for health and stability. We provide comprehensive, integrated services that include emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, health care services, and employment assistance.
