Earth Species Project

We are the Earth Species Project, a non-profit organization driven by a profound mission: to decode non-human communication and, in doing so, transform humanity's relationship with the rest of nature. Founded in 2017, our team is a passionate collective of technology leaders, AI researchers, engineers, and ethologists, all united by the goal of amplifying the voices of the natural world. We believe that the exponential advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning have brought us to a pivotal moment in history. The question is no longer *if* we can understand what other species are saying, but *when*. By developing and applying cutting-edge AI, we are building the tools to unlock these ancient languages and gain unprecedented insights into the complex lives and intelligences of the millions of species we share this planet with.

We are creating foundational models, like our flagship NatureLM-audio, which are designed to be species-agnostic, helping researchers everywhere to detect, classify, and find new meaning in massive bioacoustic datasets.
