About Us

Dstillery is the leading AI ad targeting company. We empower brands and agencies to target their best prospects for high-performing programmatic advertising campaigns. Backed by our award-winning Data Science, Dstillery has earned 24 patents (and counting) for the AI technology that powers our precise, scalable audiences. Our newest technology, ID-free®, is patented, privacy-safe behavioral targeting that reaches 100% of ad impressions and can be used with any Dstillery product. Our premier user segment product, Custom AI Audiences, is a just-for-your-brand targeting solution that refreshes hundreds of millions of users every 24 hours to deliver the best performance.

We currently handle billions of events per day, we're growing strong and need someone who can help us scale our systems to handle lots of data. We're still pretty small on the engineering team, and everyone gets their hands dirty and makes a real impact.

Our engineering culture is focused on shipping scalable, practical systems. We avoid ivory-tower architecture, preferring to ship quality code and iterate. We use small, agile teams that can touch any part of the system. We place a high value on maintaining a good work-life balance, avoiding grinds and focusing on getting things done rather than putting in long hours.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Software Engineer who takes a craftsman-like approach to software development—writing clean, testable, and well-documented code. You’ll contribute to both our on-prem systems and our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure.

As part of our modernization efforts, you’ll help simplify existing systems and develop new products and features in GCP. Our engineering culture values collaboration, learning, and innovation—your ideas will have real impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Break down complex problems into well-designed, maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and operations teams.
  • Develop distributed microservices that are reliable, scalable, and performant.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of applications and services.
  • Use Agile methodologies to deliver features on time and with high quality.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot; experience working on production systems.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • (Bonus) Some familiarity with distributed systems and microservice architectures.
  • (Bonus) Experience operating in hybrid environments (on-prem + public cloud such as GCP or AWS).
  • (Bonus) Experience with Docker and containerization.
  • You are interested in working with the following technologies: Java for applications, Python for ETL, Apache Kafka, MySQL, Spark, Hive, Apache Airflow, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Google Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Dataflow and Cloud Run.
