DoraHacks embarked on its journey in 2014, founded by Jiannan Zhang, with a vision to cultivate a global hacker movement. What began as a grassroots initiative to connect talented developers and innovators has since blossomed into one of the world's most active and influential developer incentive platforms and hackathon organizers. The early days saw DoraHacks laying the groundwork for a community that transcended geographical boundaries, fostering collaboration and problem-solving through the power of code. The mission was clear: to bridge the gap between brilliant minds and the resources they needed to bring their groundbreaking ideas to life, initially focusing on emerging technologies and quickly recognizing the transformative potential of blockchain and Web3.

Over the years, DoraHacks has significantly expanded its reach and impact. The platform evolved from hosting primarily in-person hackathons to embracing a global, online model, especially accelerating this shift around 2020. This allowed developers from every corner of the world, from Europe and India to Southeast Asia and beyond, to participate in the same events, compete for prizes, and gain visibility. DoraHacks.io, the dedicated hackathon platform, became a central hub for these activities. The organization has been instrumental in nurturing talent across diverse technological frontiers, including not only blockchain and Web3, but also Quantum Computing, AI, and Space Tech. By providing crypto-native toolkits, DoraHacks has empowered thousands of 'BUIDLers' – a term affectionately used for the startup teams and developers on the platform – to secure funding, develop their products, and contribute to open-source ecosystems. The platform has facilitated millions of dollars in grants and funding, supporting a vast number of projects and fostering a vibrant, self-sustaining community of innovators. Today, DoraHacks stands as a key infrastructure provider for numerous blockchain ecosystems, open-source communities, and DAOs, facilitating quadratic funding grants, bounties, and community governance, truly embodying its commitment to a decentralized and democratized future of technology.
