The Business Systems Team under Revenue Operations at Docker serves as the technological backbone of our company, enabling every department to achieve their goals through innovative, scalable, and efficient IT solutions. Within this team, the Sr. Manager of Systems Design plays a pivotal role in shaping our Salesforce and Go-To-Market ecosystem. This role involves not only the technical design and implementation of Salesforce solutions but also the leadership and development of a team dedicated to Salesforce development and administration. As a bridge between technology and business, this position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people management skills to support and enhance company-wide initiatives and drive digital transformation.

A we aim to meet the goals of our recently onboarded Chief Revenue Officer, success in the Sr. Manager of Systems Design role requires a multifaceted skill set. A successful individual in this position is someone who possesses deep technical knowledge of the Salesforce platform, including its customization, configuration, and integration capabilities. They should have a proven track record of architecting and deploying Salesforce solutions that meet complex business requirements while being scalable and maintainable. Effective communication and collaboration skills are crucial, as this role involves working closely with stakeholders across various departments to translate business needs into technological solutions. Additionally, strong leadership and people management abilities are essential for guiding and mentoring the Salesforce team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation. A successful Salesforce.com System Designer is proactive, solutions-oriented, and committed to leveraging technology to drive business success.

Responsibilities:

  • People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Salesforce developers and administrators. Manage team performance, set goals, and conduct regular performance reviews. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages growth and innovation.

  • Salesforce Solutions Design: Architect high-quality Salesforce solutions and enhancements that align with business requirements and IT strategies. Design scalable and maintainable solutions that meet business needs.

  • Customization and Configuration: Customize and configure Salesforce environments to enhance functionality and user experience. Implement custom solutions with Lightning Components, Apex, Visualforce, and API integrations.

  • Data Management and Security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with data protection regulations. Design and manage user roles, security settings, access levels, and sharing rules.

  • Integration: Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other business systems using middleware tools and APIs. Ensure seamless data flow and functionality across platforms.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, implement best practices for optimization, and provide recommendations to improve system efficiency and user experience.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, provide expert guidance on Salesforce capabilities, and deliver custom solutions that support business goals.

  • Documentation and Training: Create detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, and customizations. Develop and deliver training materials for end-users and administrators.

  • Project Management: Lead Salesforce projects from conception through implementation, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

  • ​​Full Application Life Cycle Management: Manage the complete application life cycle for Salesforce solutions, including requirements gathering, architecture design, development, user acceptance testing, roll-out, and ongoing support.

  • Technology-Business Feedback Loop: Establish and maintain a feedback loop with other Operations leaders to make iterative improvements to business processes. Utilize insights and feedback to refine and optimize Salesforce solutions in alignment with evolving business needs.

  • Salesforce.com Best Practices and Change Management: Implement and maintain Salesforce.com best practices to ensure high quality and consistency across the platform. Develop and enforce a controlled change management process to manage updates, enhancements, and new feature rollouts, minimizing disruptions and maintaining system integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 10+ years hands-on experience in the Salesforce ecosystem, including Sales and Service Cloud, CPQ, Revenue Intelligence, CRM Analytics, and Community. Salesforce.com Certifications strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience in Salesforce system design, development, and administration.

  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce products, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud.

  • Proficiency in Lightning Component Framework, Apex, Visualforce, and API integrations.

  • Experience with Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, Excel Connector, etc.) and a solid understanding of database concepts.

  • Experience in SaaS Go-To-Market technology, demonstrating a clear understanding of the strategies and technologies that drive successful SaaS business models.

  • Experience leading and managing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) within an agile framework. This includes planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality software solutions in alignment with business goals.

  • Hands-on and in-depth experience with the administration and customization of Enterprise SaaS process and technical support solutions. This involves not just a theoretical understanding but actual experience in configuring, customizing, and maintaining enterprise-level SaaS applications.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in people management, including team leadership, performance management, and professional development.

What to expect in the first 30 days:

  • Familiarization with Docker Virtues and Values: Immerse yourself in the company culture to understand the core values and principles that guide Docker's operations and team interactions.

  • Understanding GTM Technical Landscape: Gain a comprehensive overview of the go-to-market (GTM) technical landscape, including the tools, systems, and platforms currently in use. Understand the goals and priorities of the systems team to align your efforts with their objectives.

  • Stakeholder Relationships: Identify and establish relationships with key stakeholders across different departments, especially those who interact with or depend on the GTM systems. This will aid in gathering insights and identifying needs and expectations early on.

  • Project Overview: Review ongoing projects, tasks, and the individuals or teams responsible for them. Understand the current state of affairs to better integrate into the workflow and identify areas where you can contribute.

What to expect in the first 90 days:

  • Docker’s Revenue Systems Architecture: Achieve a detailed understanding of Docker’s revenue systems architecture. Be able to articulate how the current systems support the business and where enhancements could be made.

  • Technical Debt Identification: Review and identify areas of technical debt that could hinder future scalability or efficiency. Prioritize these areas based on their impact on the system's performance and the business.

  • Quarterly Roadmap: Establish a clear, actionable quarterly roadmap that outlines key initiatives, projects, and enhancements to tackle the identified technical debt and other areas of improvement.

  • Immediate Improvements: Identify and begin addressing low-hanging fruit—quick wins that can immediately improve system efficiency or user experience.

  • Technical Deployment Ownership: Start to take ownership of the technical deployment processes for the GTM tooling stack, ensuring smooth rollouts and updates.

  • Backlog Management: Size and prioritize backlog items, considering their business benefits and potential ROI. Plan the work for the coming months based on these priorities.

  • Agile Delivery Process: Oversee the implementation of a consistent agile delivery process. Identify key delivery KPIs to measure and improve the team’s performance and the success of the initiatives.

What to expect in the first year:

  • 12-18 Month Architecture Roadmap: In conjunction with Revenue Operations and other stakeholders, define a comprehensive architecture roadmap for the next 12-18 months. This roadmap should guide the development and enhancement of Docker’s revenue systems.

  • Solution Validation and Documentation: Validate and document existing and proposed solutions. Implement comprehensive proof of concept strategies to ensure the effectiveness and scalability of proposed changes.

  • Workflow Management: Build and manage cohesive workflows across the systems team, ensuring efficiency and collaboration in tackling the roadmap objectives.

  • Hands-On Development and Execution: Lead requirements gathering efforts and participate directly in the development and execution of system solutions that meet business needs and stakeholder expectations.

  • Technology Stack and Vendor Negotiations: Play a key role in technology stack selection, engage in vendor negotiations, and strategize frameworks to maximize ROI and impact. Analyze the usage and impact of implemented solutions.

  • Point of Contact for System Design Questions: Become the go-to person for all questions related to systems technology design, facilitating cross-functional collaboration with integrated platforms and ensuring seamless data flows.

  • Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and develop talent within the systems team, aiming to create at least two additional subject matter experts in the existing systems. Focus on knowledge sharing and skill development to bolster the team’s capabilities.
