Technical Lead (Python/Typescript)

Our client, a fast-moving startup revolutionizing commercial real estate through AI, is currently looking for a Technical Lead who thrives in high-impact environments and enjoys both writing production-grade code and setting technical direction. You’ll be joining a small, distributed team of five engineers and will play a key role in shaping the backend and frontend architecture of our AI-driven platform.

This is a hands-on individual contributor (IC) role with leadership responsibilities—you’ll break down complex problems, guide implementation, and ensure high-quality execution while staying deep in the codebase.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of scalable features across our Python backend and TypeScript frontend.
• Translate product requirements into clear, actionable technical plans.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders and distributed team members.
• Ensure code quality through best practices, mentorship, and robust review processes.
• Drive architectural decisions and help define our technical roadmap.
• Proactively identify technical risks and work with the team to resolve them.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and team rituals with an emphasis on remote-first collaboration.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including full-stack or backend-heavy roles.
• Proven ability to lead projects and influence architectural decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Strong experience with Python and TypeScript.
• Experience building and scaling cloud-native applications (AWS, GCP, or similar).
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; experience working across time zones.
• Comfortable balancing long-term technical vision with the urgency of startup execution.
• Fluent English skills.

Desired

• Prior experience with AI/ML products or real estate platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and performance optimization.
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js).
• Experience working in or leading small, high-impact engineering teams.
• Experience working in startup companies.
