About Desktop Metal
We are Desktop Metal, and we're committed to accelerating the transformation of manufacturing with our end-to-end metal 3D printing solutions. Since our founding in 2015 by leaders in advanced manufacturing, materials science, and robotics, we've been driven to address the unmet challenges of speed, cost, and quality in metal 3D printing. Our goal is to make this technology an essential tool for engineers and manufacturers around the world. We believe we're pioneering a new generation of additive manufacturing technologies focused on the production of end-use parts. Our portfolio of integrated solutions includes hardware, software, materials, and services, spanning use cases across the entire product life cycle – from product development to mass production and aftermarket operations. We cater to a wide array of industries, including automotive, aerospace, healthcare, consumer products, heavy industry, machine design, and research and development.
Our journey began with a vision to make metal 3D printing accessible for engineering teams. In 2013, our CEO Ric Fulop started collaborating with world-leading experts, and their collective inventions formed the basis of our technology. We launched our first two products in April 2017: the Studio System, designed for engineers and small production runs, and the Production System, intended for manufacturers and large-scale printing. We're proud to be the original inventors and world leaders of the 3D printing methods we believe will empower the shift to Additive Manufacturing 2.0, namely binder jetting and digital light processing. Today, our systems can print metal, polymer, sand, ceramics, foam, and even recycled wood. We're constantly innovating, developing new materials like 4140 chromoly steel and expanding our capabilities to make additive manufacturing more affordable and efficient for production volumes. We're excited about the future and our role in reshaping how parts are made across diverse industries.
