$83,000 - $101,000/ yr

Role Overview:
The Electrical Designer supports the development and deployment of Cutsforth’s Continuous Online Monitoring (COLM) solutions by designing system configurations that meet client asset-health and reliability needs. Working under the direction of the Reliability Manager, this role translates customer requirements into practical, technically sound COLM designs that enhance equipment performance and operational uptime. The position also supports the successful execution of monitoring projects through cross‑functional coordination, project management responsibilities, and on‑site travel to ensure proper installation, integration, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
Design of Cutsforth Continuous Online Monitoring (COLM) Systems:
Electrical Designers design Cutsforth COLM systems and their integration at customer sites. Design work is performed under the direction of the Reliability Services Manager using applicable electrical specifications and industry standards.
  • Gather customer electrical specifications for design incorporation and engineering review.
  • Develop engineering drawings, layouts, BOMs, and installation documentation to support deployment of COLM solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with Cutsforth standards, safety practices, and industry-recognized reliability engineering principles.
​​​​​​​Internal and External Liaison:
Act as the technical liaison between project management staff, customer points of contact, and Cutsforth engineering.
  • Lead or attend project scope definition meetings
  • Provide input on design scheduling and prioritization
  • Identify project design risks
  • Provide technical input during customer meetings, design reviews, and internal cross-functional discussions
​​​​​​​Provide Implementation and Commissioning Support:
Provide customers with remote and in-person installation and commissioning support.
  • Understand not only the electrical connectivity of Cutsforth system but also understand how to commission and operate the systems.
  • Troubleshoot system functionality both from the physical wiring perspective and from an I/O perspective.
  • Travel to the site to provide implantation/commissioning support as needed.
​​​​​​​Quality and Compliance:
Technical PMs ensure adherence to Cutsforth project management standards, corporate policies and safety protocols.
  • Maintain familiarity with ISO9001 quality management systems
  • Ensure documentation supports long term reliability and compliance
Communication and Documentation:​​​​​​
Clear communication is critical for maintaining design integrity.
  • Prepare customer facing reports and professional documentation
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide technical justifications
Required Qualifications:
  • At least an associate’s degree in the field of instrumentation & controls, electronics, reliability or another related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a power plant or similar industrial setting
  • Highly proficient in 2D electrical diagram, creating editing and interpretation
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • A mastery of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel for the purposes of preparing professional, customer facing communications and reports.
  • Strong task and project management skills to ensure consistency in workflow and record keeping.
  • Experience and familiarity with web presentation and video conferencing solutions 
  • Adept at identifying customer needs and challenges 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience contributing to technical, industrial projects with proficiency in electrical and controls projects.
  • Experience with power plant operations and maintenance.
  • Experience and familiarity with web presentations and video conferencing solutions.
Other Qualifications:
  • Successfully pass background check for cybersecurity access requirements.
Cybersecurity Role Expectations:
  • Candidate will be responsible for reviewing policies and procedures related to cybersecurity and those relevant to the functions of their role.
  • Candidate is expected to maintain a cybersecure work environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands to type, handle products, tools and navigate a computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to view computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
