About CrazyEngineers
CrazyEngineers began its journey on November 26, 2005, the brainchild of Kaustubh Katdare, an electrical engineer who graduated in 2003. At the time, Kaustubh was employed at a leading IT company and was an active participant in his company's internal newsgroups, a platform for employees across different offices to interact. He cherished the idea of connecting with colleagues, sharing ideas, technical knowledge, and even jokes. His fascination with large-scale engineering projects, fueled by shows like "Extreme Engineering" and "Mega Structures" on the Discovery Channel, led him to search for an online space where engineers working on such significant endeavors could converge to discuss challenges and share insights. To his surprise, such a dedicated platform didn't seem to exist.
This realization sparked the idea to create a community where engineers from around the globe could interact, solve problems, exchange ideas, and share knowledge. After finding the domain name "CrazyEngineers.com" available, and with a nod of approval from his mother on the name, Kaustubh registered it on November 24, 2005. He then dedicated the next two days to setting up an online forum system, officially launching CrazyEngineers on November 26, 2005. For approximately the first two and a half years, CrazyEngineers operated as a hobby project. Kaustubh didn't invest in advertising or promotion; the community grew organically through word-of-mouth and referrals from existing members. Despite its humble beginnings as a hobby, Kaustubh was always serious about its potential. Over time, CrazyEngineers evolved into an online media site and a global community for engineering professionals and students, boasting a unique audience of engineers worldwide. The platform has been recognized by prominent figures in engineering and entrepreneurship.
