Overview

The Vice President of Audit Operations (Contract Compliance Recovery Audit) will lead and grow our global contract compliance practice within both the retail and commercial sectors. This role involves not only managing the current business unit but also collaborating with the sales department to identify and secure new clients and service opportunities. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a contract compliance recovery audit business unit with a focus on profitable growth, resource optimization, talent development, market trend analysis, and industry engagement.

The Vice President will provide leadership and management for our expanding global client base. As the business grows, they will monitor service deliverables and align them with industry trends to drive further expansion. They will motivate the team to enhance the current delivery model by focusing on audit acceleration, performance tracking, and process improvements, thereby increasing efficiency and broadening our service offerings.

The VP will oversee the delivery of all contract review and financial audit activities for assigned accounts, aiming to maximize team performance, ensure client service providers meet their contractual obligations, achieve internal and client financial and operational goals, and maintain customer satisfaction in line with established practices and audit procedures. This will be achieved through effective management of audit operations, quality and service assurance, and people development. The Vice President will cultivate a team environment dedicated to profitable growth, service expansion, and talent development.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize personal industry experience and directly collaborate with Sales & Marketing Departments to expand and rebrand Cotiviti’s contract compliance service offerings through expansive value driven services across diverse industries.
  • Leadership and Oversight for Recovery Audit Services: Drive the successful delivery of recovery audit services by providing strategic leadership and oversight. Ensure that client needs and expectations are not only met but exceeded. Develop and implement key performance metrics to enhance quality and productivity, ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience throughout all phases of the audit process.
  • Strategic Partnership and Contract Management: Collaborate strategically with clients and the sales team to manage contract renewals and navigate RFP processes. Identify gaps in existing contracts and understand customer needs to ensure successful renewals. Conduct comprehensive customer needs and service analyses, recommend appropriate pricing structures and contract requirements, and contribute to RFP responses. Lead contract terminations or scope changes by identifying reasons for change, proposing solutions to customer issues for retention, and negotiating account transition procedures and pricing.
  • Efficiency and Cost Management: Continuously improve operational efficiency, productivity, predictability, and speed to resolution while strategically reducing operational costs.
  • Financial Oversight and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets for Gross ID, void/paybacks by client, and track and forecast against these budgets throughout the fiscal year.
  • Global Perspective and Strategic Alignment: Maintain a global perspective of Cotiviti and the Retail Division, understanding both short- and long-term priorities within your area of responsibility and across the organization.
  • Operational Excellence and Compliance: Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction, while ensuring 100% compliance with customer contracts and company policies.
  • Talent Development and Knowledge Sharing: Implement established processes for training and career progression to enable revenue growth and staff development. Promote and participate in knowledge-sharing activities, including best practices, benchmarking, whitepapers, and IT tool enhancements. Ensure that all staff levels are properly trained on policies, procedures, and best practices, maintaining necessary certifications and education.
  • Strategic Issue Resolution: Encourage team management to strategically address customer issues and conflicts, facilitating direct communication with customers to achieve mutually accepted resolutions. Provide assistance and remove barriers to identify opportunities for process improvements. Serve as the top escalation point to resolve customer issues, leading implementation of actions by other leaders and teams to ensure resolution and complete customer satisfaction.
  • People Management and Corporate Values: Consistently apply good people management practices aligned with company values. Manage direct reports, fulfilling all corporate duties associated with leadership.
  • Client Relationship Ownership: Own client relationships at all levels within the client’s organization, working in concert with the Strategic Account Manager.
  • Resource Planning and Workload Management: Meet regularly with audit and audit support managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels, plan, and organize workloads and staff assignments according to audit needs.
  • Hire, develop, coach, lead and retain top-tier talent, with a focus on building and improving a team and culture that is able to assist in employing best in class practices to support and drive high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Recovery Audit Operations, with experience managing teams and processes across multiple clients.
  • Experience specifically in the Retail and Commercial sector performing and managing contract compliance recovery audit services.
  • Must possess both strong analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically.
  • Must have strong presentation skills with both internal and external clients
  • Must have proven ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Prior experience with direct client contact (account management, audit, sales, etc.) required.
  • Must be comfortable working with c-suite level executives.
  • Willing to travel (potentially Internationally) to clients, Cotiviti offices, conferences, training, etc. as required.

  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.

Base compensation ranges from $200,000 to $270,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration.
